Fleetwood House
A new home in Spreyton, designed to respond to a sloping corner block. The design creates a flat outdoor area on the upper side of the building, making the most of the site's natural fall to carve out usable, level outdoor space.
Windows open up to the north and west to capture sun throughout the day, while also taking advantage of the privacy the slope naturally affords the site. Service areas and wet areas are pushed to the south and east, keeping the main living spaces oriented toward light, outlook and privacy.
The home is split over two levels. The garage, laundry, office and entry sit on the lower level, with all other living areas above on the upper storey. A stair void connects the two levels, with an exposed brick wall running through the void that ties the upper and lower storeys together. The same brick continues from outside to in, blurring the line between the building's interior and exterior.
