A multi-use community building designed to serve Sheffield's cricket and football clubs, while functioning as a broader facility for the wider community.

The design takes its cues from Mount Roland, the iconic peak that sits behind and watches over Sheffield, referenced through the building's form. Split-face stone blocks and Tasmanian native landscaping soften the building's presence on the land, tying it back to its surrounding landscape. Perforated steel sheeting wraps the building to evoke the clouds that gather around the mountain, further softening the building's edges — with the perforated eaves backlit to glow at night.

The building hugs the sports ground, sitting elevated above it to look out over passersby and create a variety of vantage points from which to view football and cricket matches, sheltered from the elements.

Rather than a landmark building that demands attention, the intent was to create something quietly iconic to the town of Sheffield — a building that belongs to its place and community rather than standing apart from it.
